Red wine in England is a tricky thing. You may or may not have noticed, but, it doesn't get very hot or very sunny here in England. Red wine grapes tend to like the sun. You probably can't think of too many brilliant German reds you like either... reds like warmth.
So what happens to red grapes grown without too much sun? It makes a rather light red wine, which can be light & lovely & refreshing - like our Bolney Pinot Noir or Brightwell's Oxford Regatta - they also can run the risk of being a little tart, slightly too fresh. Mmmm... sounds like great qualities for a sparkling wine! And, with this progression of logic, the UK Vineyard Associations "UK Winemaker of the Year, 2007", Sam Lindo, created Camel Valley's sparkling red.
Chill it as you would any other sparkling wine, it's delicious. Red fruit flavours and a lot more freshness than many sparkling red Australian wines you may have tasted. Good with food or alone or with friends or in front of the TV or, well, basically everywhere!
